The Voyager Grand Tour Marathon Relay Race & New Year's Run

The Voyager Grand Tour Marathon Relay Race is a race in which 6-runner relay teams run a marathon distance of 26.25 miles (55 yards longer than a traditional marathon). It started in 1984 as the New Year's Run Marathon Relay and was renamed the Voyager Grand Tour Marathon Relay Race in 1990 after Voyager 2's final planetary encounter at Neptune.

The New Year's Run was originally conducted from 1981 to 1983 as a race for individual runners over various distances and courses.
