The Handicap Race is a 2-mile race in which all runners are given a handicap time based on their performance in past races. Data from recent months is ignored when computing the handicaps, in order to give all runners an opportunity to get in better shape and improve on their handicap times. All runners start according to a clock counting down to 0:00. Each runner starts when the countdown clock reaches his/her handicap time. The winner is the first runner crossing the finish line, i.e., the runner who improves on his/her handicap time the most.
